What we know
- What is Polar's mission?
- Polar's mission is to make billing a function of events. Usage in, revenue out, with what every customer has used, is entitled to and costs to serve known the moment it happens. The goal is to build a finance layer for the next generation of AI products where costs move hourly and pricing changes weekly.
- What happens if I upgrade from the Early Member plan to a paid plan?
- Early Member rate is retired permanently once you upgrade to a paid plan. You can switch freely between paid plans afterwards, but downgrading to Starter will land you on the new 5% + 50¢ rate, not the original Early Member rate.
- How does seat-based billing work?
- A single billing manager purchases a seat-based product and assigns seats to teammates by email or external customer ID. Benefits only activate when seats are claimed by recipients. Polar handles invitations, claims, and automatic proration without requiring manual seat management.
- What fees are charged for disputes and chargebacks?
- Disputes and chargebacks cost $15 per dispute, regardless of outcome, and are deducted directly from the balance. This fee is imposed by credit card networks and PSPs, not by Polar, and cannot be refunded.
